Purpose of Position:

We are looking for a creative and analytical thinker with the main responsibility of supporting the entire development process through engineering and project management, conceptual and detailed design, prototyping, testing, manufacturing, performance analysis, technical documentation, and configuration management. This role will support the development of manufacturing processes across a diverse range of technologies required to manufacture products of the company. A liaison between ballistic product development and manufacturing, this individual will collaborate within a cross-functional planning team for all new or revised processes / products.

Essential Duties and/or Functions:

  • Lead the implementation of new and revised products and production technologies used in manufacturing of ballistic helmets and related products
  • Support R&D of ballistic helmet design, iterative prototyping, troubleshooting, and testing • Develop and maintain the project timeline and budget
  • Collaborate within cross-functional product/process planning team
  • Coordinate with quality and manufacturing personnel to implement process control techniques and procedures for optimal capabilities
  • Design and develop equipment and tooling to ensure product quality and effective and efficient production methods
  • Create and modify 3D models and associated drawings
  • Perform complex assembly stack ups
  • Interact with EPDM configuration management
  • Create/modify Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Develop and assist with FMEA (DFMEA and PFMEA)
  • Support operations by identifying critical product and process characteristics
  • Develop sources and collaborate with suppliers to develop specifications for materials, tooling, equipment, or components, and evaluating products according to quality standards and specifications
  • Assist operations on estimating labor requirements, production cycle times, and relative costs to provide data for operational decisions
  • Work closely with manufacturing engineering department to develop, coordinate, and implement technical and process training for employees
  • Primary support for MOC through documented processes for product/process changes (ECR / PCR process)

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other relevant science or engineering discipline
  • Experience with industrial manufacturing processes including CNC and PLC equipment
  • Experience and understanding of composite materials, thermoplastics, metals and relevant testing practices (preferred)
  • Experience with a variety of fabrication and prototyping methods and tools including 3D printing, silicone casting, and basic shop tools
  • Proficient use of Solidworks CAD software
  • Knowledge of measurement and testing techniques
  • Proficient in reading technical drawings / blueprints
  • Able to prioritize multiple projects and working to timelines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Enthusiastic, cooperative, and positive attitude
  • Working knowledge Quality Standards (ISO)
  • Trouble shooting and problem-solving skills
  • Extensive use of Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
  • Experience with and knowledge of Continuous Improvement methods / tools (Kaizen, LSS Greenbelt)
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation of tool drawings and equipment design concepts, in accordance with R&D and quality assurance functions.
  • Trouble shoot and resolve technical problems
  • Support and contribute content for compliance with all company policies and procedures, goals and objectives, safety, and environmental

Preferred/Desired Skills and/or Experiences:

  • 2-5 years of Project Management experience
  • Prior experience with delivering US Government programs and contracts
  • Prior experience in polymer, composites, or ballistic manufacturing preferred
  • Prior experience working with universities on collaborative projects
  • Experience with statistical evaluation methods and use of Minitab software

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Cleveland, OH is $110,000 - $120,000 annually.  The final salary offered to a 5successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, type and years of experience within the industry, education, etc.
