Job Description

The Insider Threat Operations (ITO) team is responsible for implementing a comprehensive and ethical insider threat program that incorporates technical, administrative, and human-centric controls to prevent, detect, investigate, and appropriately respond to insider threats.

The summer associate will work closely with our Insider Threat Operations Team. The associate will be given research and data analysis projects that contribute to the team’s maturity and understanding of factors that influence and trends relevant to insider threats. Responsibilities include data collection, cleaning, and exploratory analysis to identify key indicators and behaviors. The associate will summarize findings and provide actionable recommendations to enhance our threat detection strategies. This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in data analysis tools, and the ability to communicate insights effectively.

Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Data Science
  • Familiarity with Objectives and Key Results
  • Experience with research, analysis, and data manipulation
  • Familiarity with the creation and reporting of key metrics
  • Experience using data and analytic tools such as: PowerBI, Databricks, SQL, Python, R, or Tableau
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies
  • Good communication and presentation skills
Responsibilities
  1. Data Collection and Preparation
    1. Gather and organize data from previous insider threat cases
    2. Clean and preprocess data to ensure accuracy and consistency
  2. Exploratory Data Analysis
    1. Perform EDA to identify key variables and potential correlations/relationships between data points
    2. Visualize data using tools like Python, R, or Tableau to highlight significant trends
  3. Trend Analysis
    1. Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to detect patterns and anomalies
    2. Identify common indicators and behaviors associated with insider threats
  4. Reporting and Documentation
    1. Summarize findings in detailed reports and presentations
    2. Provide actionable recommendations based on the analysis
  5. Collaboration
    1. Work closely with the Insider Threat Operations team to understand the context and implications of your findings
    2. Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on improving insider threat detection methodologies
