Team Overview:

The Enterprise Analytics and Insights team focuses on building and deploying data and analytics capabilities across the enterprise, including making data accessible to all, to gain deep insights into our members' behaviors, trends, and needs.

The Summer Associate will work in a flexible hybrid manner and report to leadership at our Vienna, VA campus. Responsibilities will include analyzing data and competitive trends to identify areas of opportunity, then creating recommendations to influence decision-makers. Focus areas may include personalizing experiences through segmentation, evaluating the FinTech landscape, optimizing forecasts, and understanding how engagement is adapting, among other things. It is essential for the team member in this position to be a strong data storyteller, quickly grasp the evolving member strategy, and connect detailed data to broader business trends to identify data-driven recommendations that yield results.

This role is part of the Member Analytics Team, a diverse group of analysts dedicated to supporting the overall financial well-being of our members. The MA team has extensive expertise in data analysis, analytical research, and data storytelling. We apply these skills daily as we support the Member Strategy Office on various reporting initiatives and deep-dive analyses, assisting executive leadership in executing the strategic direction and roadmap.

The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2025 and ending in August 2025. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2025 or later.

Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in related field
  • Experience with research, analysis, and data manipulation
  • Experience using data and analytic tools such as: PowerBI, Databricks, SQL, Python, R, or Tableau 
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Comfort working with large datasets and telling stories with data
  • Ability to work independently and think outside of the box
  • Strong strategic, critical, and analytical thinking skills
  • Basic knowledge of financial services/payments a plus
Responsibilities
  • Analyze member data to understand, predict and identify opportunities to influence member behavior through predictive and prescriptive analytics
  • Develop recommendations for strategic initiatives or program changes that MSO could/should pursue based on findings, support recommendations with data and empirical evidence, and develop a roadmap or action plan as applicable
  • Develop and present proposal on findings from analysis and research to management up to and including senior executives
  • Become integrated into and participate in the day-to-day strategy, analysis, and operations of the team
