Job Description

The Member BI team is a newly established unit within the Member Strategy Office (MSO) | Enterprise Data and Analytics (ED&A) division. Our focus is to deliver sophisticated business intelligence visualization solutions that highlights critical analytical patterns, insights, and trends in support of Member Strategy initiatives. Aligned with the broader objectives of MSO, we also play a pivotal role in driving innovation and support the organization’s commitment to its members by partnering with Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) to explore innovative BI solutions. 

The Summer Associate will support business decisions by providing quantitative and qualitative data analysis and reporting of patterns, insights, and trends to leadership via dashboards and reports. Analyze business problems and issues using business intelligence tools that incorporate data from internal and external sources. Conduct routine work assignments of limited scope and complexity and under close supervision. Entry level professional with developing skill set and a basic understanding of procedures and analysis techniques.

Projects the Summer Associate may work on are as follows:

  • Member Satisfaction Analysis – support analysis of member satisfaction surveys by helping identify key drivers of satisfaction and correlating them with overall performance metrics or playing a role in segmenting data and running preliminary analyses.
  • Data Visualization Development – assisting in the creation of interactive dashboards and reports, visualizing member data to identify trends and patterns that support ongoing Member Strategy initiatives.
  • Data Pipeline Optimization – collaborating with data engineers to streamline and optimize data pipelines to ensure that data is efficiently processed and ready for analysis.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, such as KPI and metric definitions, data mapping guides, process cycle workflows, ensuring clarity and consistency across the Member BI projects.

The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2025 and ending in August 2025. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2025 or later.

Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a master’s degree in Business, Data Analytics, Data Science, or Business Intelligence
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Statistics, or related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in data analysis and reporting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of business area/specialization.
  • Experience in business intelligence applications and/or cloud services, such as Power BI and Tableau.
  • Familiarity of reporting capabilities of existing ERP, CRM and/or database software vendors.
  • Experience using statistical methods, mathematical techniques, forecasting, cost-benefit analysis.
  • Experience in working with big data or relational databases (using analysis tools and programming languages, such as SQL, Python, R in Databricks).
  • Experience in strategic communication, storytelling and presenting to business stakeholders and leadership.
  • Interpersonal skills - creative thinker, open-minded, collaborative, curious, empathetic, and has a diverse perspective.
  • Exposure to managing or coordinating small analytical projects.
Responsibilities
  • Follow standard procedures to create and/or update basic reports and dashboards.
  • Identify trends or patterns and help prepare ongoing reports and data visualizations in order to support business decisions.
  • Contribute to reports that show key performance indicators, identify areas of improvement into current operations, and display root cause analysis of problems.
  • Partner with leaders and senior staff to define specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs and required or available data elements.
  • Support and participate in team projects and initiatives.
  • Utilize and adhere to data governance documents and procedures; alert supervisor if an inconsistency or inaccuracy is discovered during the course of reporting or analysis.
  • Work closely with BI analysts, data engineers, and other team members to support various Member BI projects.
  • Assist in the design and development of interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI or Tableau.
  • Conduct data exploration and preliminary analyses to identify trends, patterns, and correlations within member data.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to optimize data pipelines, ensuring timely and accurate data delivery.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of ETL processes to support data integration and transformation.
  • Prepare summary reports and presentations to communicate insights and project progress to team members and management.
