Job Description

Procurement & Vendor Management (P&VM) aligns Navy Federal's procurement strategy and execution with operational, financial, and strategic priorities. P&VM leads Navy Federal's efforts in sourcing, acquisition planning, contract negotiations, contract administration, and holistic vendor management, including third-party risk management, to ensure operational requirements are satisfied and risks are properly managed. We strive to deliver results in a timely manner and maximize value on behalf of our internal customers and members to reach enterprise strategic goals. We also work with business units to buy, lease, and sell personal and real property.

The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2025 and ending in August 2025. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2025 or later.

Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, Data Analytics Engineering (with focus on supply chain/business) or other related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills - comfortable working with quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Strong ability to work in teams and collaborate with peers and internal customers.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to learn new processes quickly and effectively multi-task.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Self-starter / self-directed.
  • Understanding of general Information Technology concepts.
  • Experience with business process definition and optimization.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience creating reports and analyses.
  • High level proficiency with Microsoft Office and other Data Analytics tools.
  • Thorough understanding of Supply Chain with a strong emphasis in strategic sourcing and data analytics.
  • Experience with Reporting and Analytic tools.
  • Previous experience in articulating an idea and influencing cross functional senior leadership for buy in.
  • Experience with Strategic Sourcing or Category Management a plus.
Responsibilities

Develop framework for Value Added Reseller Program, which will include process and procedure development, rationalization of our VAR supplier base, and detailed spend analysis. The Summer Associate will need to identify key KPIs to measure success of participants in the Program. We also have other opportunities to work hand in hand with our Sourcing Managers on strategic sourcing engagements as well.

12-week plan:

  1. Analyze available spend information to identify trends.
  2. Work with Sourcing Managers to identify opportunities to leverage spend data.
  3. Propose process changes to improve analytics regarding spend.
  4. Define and implement a process to identify Key VARs, the categories will be primary and supplemental VARs.
  5. Report back on the outcome, with proposed next steps.
  6. As time permits, assist in the next steps planning and implementation activities. 
  7. Execute and administer Nondisclosure Agreements (NDAs) as appropriate.
  8. Conduct Market Research as appropriate.
