Are you looking for an opportunity to be part of a dynamic organization and lead a team to drive strategy in a constantly changing environment?  We are looking for an experienced Vice President to lead International Tax Operations in Warsaw within the Goldman Sachs Tax Department.

The Tax Department supports the activities, operations, reporting obligations and transactions of the firm’s business lines to ensure that tax consequences and reputational risks are evaluated appropriately. Our work contributes directly to the firm’s success, and the division is ideal for creative and collaborative individuals who have strong ethics and attention to detail.

Tax Operations is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the firm’s compliance with the tax authorities around the globe and managing related inquiries from a variety of the firm’s businesses across established and emerging markets.  

Day-to-day team functions include management of multiple operational tax functions across withholding tax, transaction taxes, client information reporting, and regulatory filings. The team also has the responsibility of analyzing new regulations and designing process and system changes. The team capitalizes on opportunities to optimize procedures and build scalability through data analytics and efficient use of technology.  

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL 

  • Oversee and manage the team, foster team development, and give regular feedback & reporting to senior management.
  • Develop deep subject matter expertise in relevant tax systems, procedures, and requirements. 
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of multiple business lines across the firm in a role offering broad exposure to many divisions and groups. 
  • Review new regulation impact or new business integrating with Tax Ops. 
  • Use your inquisitive mindset to identify control weakness, mitigate risk, improve client experience, and further process automation. 
  • Act as a risk manager through ongoing assessment and awareness of the tax regulatory environment and the firm’s adherence to applicable tax reporting obligations. 
  • Work with management and teams across regions to drive initiatives and issue resolution. 
  • Create workflows and solution designs for technical systems and applications. 
  • Generate new ideas to create efficiencies and reduce risk. 
  • Be flexible and contribute to other activities as required. 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years relevant work experience in Operations, Tax, Finance or related field leading teams, functions and managing projects. 
  • Understanding of tax regulations in an operational environment, for example Common Reporting Standards, FATCA, Stamp Duty, Transaction Taxes or withholding and reporting requirements would be beneficial.
  • Managing and leading functional teams and providing coaching and mentorship.
  • Thrives in a team environment, possesses strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to collaborate with other professionals within the firm, to coordinate efforts, resolve client issues, and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Proven ability to prioritize workload to drive results, solve problems and take accountability for deadlines / outcomes. 
  • Excellent organization and risk management skills. 
  • Comfortable presenting to executive leadership. 
  • Remains composed under pressure, prioritizes, and makes decisions in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Track record of accuracy and attention to detail; flexible, proactive, self-starter. 
  • Analytical thinker with the ability to generate innovative ideas, develop and translate strategy to execution. 
  • Ability to translate regulatory guidance and design solutions for risk mitigation
