As a member of our FAA Enterprise Network Services (FENS) team, you will bring your passion, education and experience to this critical mission and interact directly with decision-makers and government staff who are tasked with ensuring the nation's air transportation system's underlying communications infrastructure is secure and always available. As the on-site FENS OEX Lab Support Engineer located at the Mike Moroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC) and under the direction of the Verizon FENS Test Director, you will serve as the technical support engineer for all assigned laboratory activities. Your primary focus will be to coordinate and execute lab testing across all systems and applications, with particular specialization in TDM and safety critical communications and data services. Your testing responsibilities will include software testing, hardware testing, factory acceptance testing, integration testing, system testing, product acceptance verification, and regression testing over the life of the FAA FENS contract. The OEX lab is part of the FAA Enterprise Network Test Bed (FeNTB), also known as development test at government site (DT-G). Other responsibilities include:
Order, install, test, and maintain lab equipment.
Execute the FENS Development Test Procedures plan for the DT-G Lab.
Lead all testing activities within the lab and partner with other engineers and vendors to successfully test equipment and application functionality against required FAA specifications.
Call upon your strong background with legacy TDM technologies (analog audio, serial datacom, DDS, T1s, etc), to configure and manage a wide variety of complex safety critical equipment, network equipment, and interfaces.
Stay on schedule with tight testing timelines, and stay in close communication with the Test Director regarding any testing issues related to system and network functionality or other problems that may affect the testing schedule.
Provide technical support and guidance to other lab team members particularly in the area of TDM service flow configuration, interfaces, management, and performance.
Engage with vendor technical support as needed to keep testing activities moving forward.
Work with other test engineers to plan and test new systems and functions within the lab environment. Maintain daily lab logs and update the Laboratory Handbook.
Recognize, diagnose, analyze, and resolve complex system and application problems.
Open and maintain Program Trouble Reports (PTRs) and keep excellent records of problems, actions, and resolutions.
What we’re looking for...
You’re a technical expert with experience managing multiple medium to large projects at once. Cross-functional work is ideal for you, given your collaborative nature and ability to work with a variety of stakeholders across the organization. You have experience and knowledge in scripting and automation and have a knack for using these abilities to increase efficiency within a production environment. You will have a strong, customer centric voice in assisting with as well as implementing our strategic roadmap.
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
Experience with large scale IT systems.
Ability to obtain a GSA Public Trust Clearance.
Knowledge of testing processes and troubleshooting methodologies, ability to analyze situations and make recommendations on solutions.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science.
Network configuration skills.
TDM and Cisco Router experience.
Exhibit strong logical and analytical problem-solving skills
Ability to adapt quickly to changing, growth-oriented environment
Exhibit consistent detailed work product results and possess ability to independently see a project through to completion
Ability to communicate technical information clearly and precisely to customers of varying technical knowledge levels
