The 5G RF Engineering Manager is the manager of the premier RF engineering solution for Verizon Business and Government Operations (BGCO) 5G Wireless delivery responsible for designing private LTE/5G and in-building systems using different OEM equipment based on the technology needs and application requirements. In this role you will lead a team of Principal and Senior 5G RF engineers responsible for the design, level of effort scoping, pricing, and management of partner selection.

You and your team will evaluate and oversee the design of cost effective solutions and work closely with engineering peers in construction, IP core, and project management as part of the implementation team responsible for executing projects on time and within budget. You’ll accept individual ownership of critical issues, creatively thinking through complex challenges to identify and refine comprehensive resolutions and solutions.

You’ll define, develop, and maintain processes aimed at driving down deployment costs and increasing efficiency. You and your team will interact professionally and ethically with customers as well as internal stakeholders including sales, solutions architects, product, finance, legal, etc.  You and/or your team will perform site walks as necessary to gather all the details with project stakeholders to successfully implement a project in a timely and cost effective fashion.  You and/or your team will create iBwave designs in-house as well as in collaboration with key partners.  You’ll develop trusted technical advisor relationships with internal organizations. 

The 5G RF Engineering Manager will use the compelling assets of Verizon to provide consultation and support the delivery of 5G Network products and services including:

  • Private LTE Networks

  • Private 5G NSA Networks

  • Private 5G SA Networks

  • In Building DAS Solutions

  • In Building Signal Source

  • In Building Neutral Host Networks

  • Current and future Cellular Network technology


Where you'll be working...

This hybrid role will have a defined work location thta includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager

You need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience

  • Six or more years of experience in a 4G/5G RF Engineering role with leadership responsibilities

  • Two or more years experience in a formal people leadership or supervisory role.

  • Experience with LTE and 5G architecture in enterprise deployment scenarios.

  • Experience with propagation and optimization modeling tools such as Atoll, GeoPlan, and iBwave.

  • Experience with Ericsson/Nokia/Samsung systems including OSS.  

  • Experience with iBwave certification (lvl-3 preferred) and knowledge of major DAS systems like Commscope, Mobile Access, Solid and or JMA. 

  • Ability to travel, estimated at <25%

Even better if you have:

  • Ten or more years of wireless engineering experience and increasing responsibility (team lead, mentoring, and technical lead for large, multi-technology deployments).

  • Experience leading an engineering team or similar technical leadership role.

  • Ability to understand, compile, evaluate, and present complex data and solutions to executives and senior leadership.

  • Demonstrated expertise in correlating business drivers and needs (financial drivers, impacts, and restrictions) into technical solutions, on proposed solutions.

  • Knowledge of Private LTE/network architecture.

  • Knowledge of licensed and unlicensed spectrum and 4G/5G technologies running over both FR1 and FR2.

  • Knowledge of CAT5/CAT6 based systems like Ericsson DOT and Spidercloud.

  • Working knowledge of at least one data collection tool such as Datapro, TEMS Symphony, or similar. 

  • 5G/4G Call Processing experience with knowledge of protocols and new and existing features.  

  • Understanding of 3GPP Specifications for 5G/LTE, specifically Rel-15/16.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.
