Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or the equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
- FINRA Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) certification within 6 months
- FINRA Series 99 licensure within 12 months
- Progressively responsible accounting experience including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliation
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles
- Proficient with PC applications including Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as a team player
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Responsibilities - Review all transactions posted in the company’s bank accounts and perform periodic cash analysis to ensure the appropriate level of funds are available for operating needs.
- Perform accounting related activities including maintaining, balancing, and reconciling all NFFG and NFIS general and subsidiary ledgers.
- Perform monthly close activities, including the preparation and posting of all journal entries, the payment of all bills, the collection of all receivables, and the preparation of all bank reconciliations.
- Perform account reconciliation, analytics, and variance analysis and provide required supporting documentation.
- Prepare Cash Disbursement Vouchers (“CDVs”), ensuring accuracy and completeness, obtain appropriate approval, and make payments.
- Obtain adequate support and approval for all journal entries and bill payments.
- Review expense reports and purchase card (“PCard”) statements for compliance with NFFG’s expense policy, and remit payment for approved transactions.
- Compute and remit tax payments for various federal, state, and local agencies.
- Prepare intercompany allocation of costs between NFFG and NFIS in accordance with both the management agreement and SEC Rule 17a-3 (a)(1) and (a)(2) Expense-Sharing Agreements for Broker-Dealers.
- Ensure compliance with SEC Rule 17a-4 Records to be preserved by certain Exchange Members, Brokers and Dealers and FINRA Rule 4511 Accessibility of Records by maintaining adequate support and organizing it in an efficient manner on the company’s network.
- Provide documentation and support as requested to both internal and external auditors.
- Conduct in-depth analysis to identify, isolate, and resolve discrepancies, and contribute to quality control and process improvement.
- Identify and participate in process and automation improvement initiatives; assist with integration testing and present recommendations for implementation.
- Participate in task/project groups across department lines; assist with system design/development and participate in integration testing; communicate accounting knowledge and business processes.
- Prepare accounting memos as needed for one-time events or extraordinary items, incorporating accounting guidance when applicable.
- Assist with the preparation of the quarterly 5300 Call Report, FOCUS report, and semi-annual SIPC report, as well as other regulatory reports as needed.
