JOB DESCRIPTION
The Sustainability & Impact (S&I) team is seeking an Associate to advance sustainability and climate analytics serving various Asset and Wealth Management (AWM) Private Investing businesses. S&I sits within the AWM Private Investing and supports the integration, management, and enhancement of sustainability practices across private equity, private credit, infrastructure, real estate, growth, and sustainable investing businesses for the purposes of client reporting, regulatory compliance, and commercial value creation across managed investments. The sustainability and climate analytics role sits within the Sustainability & Impact team and works as part of a team that develops sustainability data and insights for the organization and stewards the development and integration of climate-related capabilities into the investment process.
The Sustainability and Climate Analytics Associate will provide critical support for rolling out and deepening capabilities on behalf of private markets function. In particular, the Associate will leverage strong quantitative, finance, and sustainability content expertise to advance dashboards and reports, data management and governance, reporting frameworks, and risk analytics for various business stakeholders. The ideal candidate should be a strong self-starter, motivated and experienced in delivery of data and analytics capabilities.
This role will report into the Head of Climate Strategy and Data Platforms for the AWM Private Markets Investing business.
Key ResponsibilitiesAdvance development and manage utilization of key quantitative tools within the AWM Private sustainability reporting, climate risk, and greenhouse gas (GHG) toolkits.
- Manage 6-month reporting cycles for sustainability data across Goldman Sachs’ portfolio companies, including survey development, aggregation, and dashboarding
- Manage and coordinate with internal stakeholders on metric reporting framework development and submission against various requirements, including EDCI, TCFD, TNFD, SFDR, and CSRD
- Support improvements and implementation of greenhouse gas and climate risk data across transition and physical risk for corporate and real assets
- Prepare, analyze, and aggregate portfolio and sub-portfolio sustainability reports and insights for regulatory reporting, voluntary reporting, and business intelligence for value creation
- Coordinate with engineering to design target state architecture and tooling and provide detailed user specifications and quality control on tool coding and development
- Develop and enhance data visualizations to communicate sustainability and climate performance to internal and external stakeholders
- Advise portfolio companies, investors, and internal stakeholders on data-driven sustainability and climate insights and emerging capabilities related to evolving analytic tools and practices
- Support program execution and organization
- Perform critical knowledge management functions for data and other program resources, ensuring access to the broader team and maintaining a source of truth
- Support vendor relationship management and execution across a range of support providers
- Develop and integrate data management and governance best practices, including first line quality control and validation systems for climate- and sustainability-related tool outputs and auditable process documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; 3+ years of experience
- Exceptional technical skills, including understanding of data architecture, best practices in data visualization and dashboard development, excellent skills in Excel-based modeling and analytics, and fluency in a programming language, particularly Python or Slang
- Broad familiarity with various sustainability and climate-related knowledge domains, including climate risk, financial accounting, sustainability reporting, and GHG accounting; deeper knowledge in at least one of these areas is ideal
- Written communication skills with experience developing PowerPoint presentations for Executive audiences a plus and an ability to think in a structured, critical manner
- Proven ability to self-start and self-manage work, including independent identification of next steps and priorities
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment with a commitment to excellence, integrity and collaboration
- A background in related work in consulting or financial services organizations is considered a plus
Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $100000-$160000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
