YOUR IMPACT

We are looking for an Analyst to serve as a member of the Marcus US Deposits Monitoring & Testing function in Richardson (Texas) or Draper (Utah). The role will execute monitoring and testing across processes and identify potential risks and control weaknesses to contribute directly to the firm’s success by ensuring regulatory compliance, protecting client assets, and managing risk.

Marcus US Deposits Business Controls is a first-line risk and controls management function which ensures process and controls design, controls assessment, issues management, controls monitoring and testing, risk reporting and governance.

Our primary objective is to elevate our controls environment to enable growth and scalability of the business in a well-managed way.

The Monitoring & Testing function will implement a controls evaluation framework to continuously monitor the efficacy of our processes, systems, and controls, and ensure their performance and compliance through robust testing methods. It is a critical function to mitigate risk within Marcus US Deposits and Goldman Sachs as a whole. This function collaborates strongly with other functions in Business Controls to ensure proactive risk assessment, control design and enhancement. Marcus US Deposits Monitoring & Testing team is looking for people with strong analytical and quantitative backgrounds and a strong interest in financial services. We seek bright and dynamic individuals with a quantitative orientation, basic financial acumen, and fluency with risk and controls.

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Design and execute controls testing for key controls and regulatory requirements
  • Aggregate testing outcomes to identify key themes and control enhancement opportunities
  • Engage with cross-functional stakeholders to review and validate results
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of the risk and controls across Marcus US Deposits
  • Advise, challenge & inform the businesses on recommended ways to mitigate risk; reviews actions items to ensure that risk is being sufficiently addressed
  • Identify ways to share risk best practice across teams and functions, and with other business lines where like processes exist/there is exposure to similar risk

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or a related field
  • 3+ years related work experience
  • Understanding of Consumer banking processes in a risk management context are required
  • Exposure to qualitative and quantitative controls and data testing across financial products.
  • Proactive with strong analytical orientation, lateral thinking, organizational, influencing skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to navigate data sets, develop metrics and perform analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills to clearly articulate issues and ideas with different levels of stakeholders
  • Innovative, including a keen eye for identifying areas of control enhancements and automation which have practical value. Good influencing skills to challenging the status quo and continuously enhance the control environment
  • Ability to perform data analytics using metrics to identify trends and themes
  • Sound time management skills to be able to effectively prioritize and multi-task.
  • A mentor / coach to the juniors in the team
  • Drive and motivation to improve personal performance, broaden knowledge, work intensely towards extremely challenging goals, and persist in the face of obstacles or setbacks
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills to collaborate as a global team and build strong relationship with key stakeholders across Divisions
  • Thinks ahead, anticipates questions, plans for contingencies, finds alternative solutions and identifies clear objectives.  Sees the big picture and effectively analyzes complex issues 
  • Track record of delivering and enhancing measurable, impactful business outcomes and product
  • CFA, FRM or equivalent professional certifications preferred
  • Experience in Consumer compliance, operational risk or internal audit a plus

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-3 years banking experience, specifically in risk, compliance, or corporate governance
  • Strong Risk Assessment Framework knowledge and experience performing risk assessments covering key risks and controls
  • Working knowledge of financial, operational, compliance, and reputation risks
  • Experience aggregating and analyzing various types of risks and data with output to dashboards and/or formal written assessments
