Zachary Piper Solutions is looking for a Construction Cost Estimator to join a growing team in support of a government agency. This position will be fully on-site, located in Annapolis Junction, MD.
Responsibilities/Overview:
This individual will be responsible for analyzing project plans and specifications, preparing detailed cost estimates using RSMeans and Excel, and collaborating with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliersYou'll conduct site visits to gather information, prepare comprehensive bid proposals, and handle multiple proposals simultaneously, prioritizing based on deadlines and project importanceAdditionally, you'll review and evaluate quotes, monitor project costs and progress, provide support during contract negotiations, and stay updated on industry trends and best practicesCollaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and constraintsIdentify and quantify cost factors, such as production time, materials, and labor expensesPrepare detailed cost breakdowns and bid proposalsConduct site visits to gather information and assess project conditionsMaintain and update cost databases and estimating software, including RSMeansReview and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotesMonitor and report on project costs and progressAssist in the preparation of project budgets and schedulesProvide support during contract negotiations and change order processesManage multiple proposals simultaneously in a fast-paced environment nullRequired Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in estimating, with a focus on government construction projectsProficiency in RSMeans and ExcelStrong understanding of construction methods, materials, and costs across various trades (architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil)Excellent analytical and mathematical skillsStrong organizational and time management skills, working on multiple proposals at a timeExperience handling proposals exceeding $20 million Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates for government construction projects
Compensation and Benefits:
• $75,000-$85,000
• Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, PTO, Sick Leave as required by law, and Holidays.
