Full Job Description:

Zachary Piper Solutions is looking for a Construction Cost Estimator to join a growing team in support of a government agency. This position will be fully on-site, located in Annapolis Junction, MD.

 

Responsibilities/Overview:

  • This individual will be responsible for analyzing project plans and specifications, preparing detailed cost estimates using RSMeans and Excel, and collaborating with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers

  • You'll conduct site visits to gather information, prepare comprehensive bid proposals, and handle multiple proposals simultaneously, prioritizing based on deadlines and project importance

  • Additionally, you'll review and evaluate quotes, monitor project costs and progress, provide support during contract negotiations, and stay updated on industry trends and best practices

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and constraints

  • Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time, materials, and labor expenses

  • Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and bid proposals

  • Conduct site visits to gather information and assess project conditions

  • Maintain and update cost databases and estimating software, including RSMeans

  • Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes

  • Monitor and report on project costs and progress

  • Assist in the preparation of project budgets and schedules

  • Provide support during contract negotiations and change order processes

  • Manage multiple proposals simultaneously in a fast-paced environment null

    Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in estimating, with a focus on government construction projects

  • Proficiency in RSMeans and Excel

  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and costs across various trades (architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil)

  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, working on multiple proposals at a time

  • Experience handling proposals exceeding $20 million Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates for government construction projects

    Compensation and Benefits:

    •        $75,000-$85,000

    •        Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, PTO, Sick Leave as required by law, and Holidays.
