CACI is looking for an experienced Data Architect to join our team to drive enterprise data management governance and policy for an IT office supporting Federal Protective Service (FPS) and provide support for multiple applications and systems. We are looking for a Data Architect that will work closely with and provide guidance to the federal Data Manager to design a comprehensive data governance framework that supports the organization’s data needs and provides guidance on best practices.  The successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly and succinctly both written and orally, and present products and ideas in a business-like manner. The candidate will be required to work in dynamic fast paced environments that require team interaction and coordination of efforts.  The candidate must be experienced in interfacing with both client managers and system users. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement an overall agency-wide data strategy that is in line with business processes.
  • Develop a comprehensive data governance framework that encompasses policies, processes, roles and responsibilities related to data management.
  • Examine and identify database structural necessities by evaluating client operations, applications, and programming.
  • Identify internal and external data sources, as part of the data management plan
  • Create data dictionaries and business glossaries to document data lineages, data definitions and metadata for all business-critical data domains. 
  • Apply knowledge of reference models to data architecture design and maintain alignment with standards and best practices for ontology representation. 
  • Implement data architecture initiatives on data quality, data governance, data standards, and data policies across all core business functions to ensure consistency in data definitions and data usage. 
  • Guide efforts to define the mission, goals, critical success factors, principles, and policies for data strategy and architecture. 
  • Assess database implementation procedures to ensure they comply with internal and external regulations.
  • Identify gaps, challenges, and areas where data policies are needed.
  • Provide guidance for a scalable and flexible data architecture that includes data warehouses, data lakes, and data pipelines.
  • Provide data analysis and establishes data standardization.
  • Create comprehensive documentation of the data architecture, data models, and data lineage.
  • Work closely with Database Administrator, guiding them on data architecture principles and standards.
  • Educate staff members through training and individual support.
  • Develop presentations and reports.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Entry On Duty (EOD) - Active EOD preferred
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent + 10 years of related experience, or MA/MS or equivalent + 7 years of related experience
  • At least 7 years of experience in Data Architecture /Engineering
  • Proficient in data principles and governance tools
  • Experience with supporting Microsoft SQL Server for applications
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodology, processes, and techniques

Preferred (Nice to Have) Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with some or all of the following:
    • ServiceNow
    • JIRA
    • Confluence
  • Azure Data/Database certification
  • Experience with non-Microsoft SQL data platforms
  • ITIL v4 - Foundation
  • Previous DHS or DoD experience

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$109,800 - $241,600
