What you’ll be doing...

You will lead a center of excellence team and be accountable for developing and executing the strategies and optimizing the practices and plans across the enterprise that get qualified diverse suppliers, keep tested and proven diverse businesses, and grow successful and innovative diverse partners in Verizon's supply chain. You are a thought leader/trusted partner who provides top-level guidance, education, and awareness and who advances a shared responsibility model in partnership with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams globally. You will also provide reputational leadership as well drive insights, and develop, and execute our goals and objectives collaboratively internally and with community partners in the marketplace to build and maintain our brand leadership. You will be an influencer inside and outside of Verizon.

  • Building and sustaining relationships at all levels of management by providing expert guidance, education, training, and awareness to drive insight and influence action plans to include diverse businesses in opportunities.  

  • Reinforcing priorities, goals, and objectives throughout the year with supplier diversity champions across the enterprise.

  • Conducting check-ins, including hosting champion meetings, providing dashboards and analytics, best practice sharing with other corporations and organizations, and roadshows for executives to keep them apprised of our goals, objectives, and results. 

  • Leading the partnership with sourcing to ensure participation and engagement with diverse businesses and accountability with our prime suppliers in reporting tier 2 spend.

  • Partnering with other Verizon teams on initiatives, CSR, ESG, Public Policy/Strategic Alliances, and Marketing to foster marketplace leadership.

  • Delivering reputational and thought leadership with community partners and with companies that share our values.

  • Engaging with community partners to advance our diversity, equity, and inclusion goals for supplier diversity including holding key committee positions.

  • Leading external partnerships and collaborations to drive our success and leadership brand position. 

  • Partnering with Public Policy in community relationship management.

  • Partnering with Public Policy on external stakeholder management and compliance.

  • Benchmarking with other corporations on best and next practices and participating on panels and other forums in accordance with our plans and objectives. 

  • Ensuring the standard operating procedures are followed for the data enrichment auditing process of supplier diversity spend results. 

  • Leading support of regulatory reporting and compliance, customer RFP responses, and customer and procurement contract negotiations. 

  • Ensuring that Verizon complies with supplier diversity regulatory mandates and subcontracting reporting requirements for California, Washington DC, Maryland, City of Philadelphia, New Jersey, Boston, Tennessee, the State of Illinois, and the GSA subcontracting plan. 

  • Assessing key supplier’s performance, marketplace changes, and other external insights. 

  • Meeting with key business stakeholders to determine changing business models, optimization, consolidations, and other key activities that may impact diverse businesses in establishing the supplier diversity STI target for board approval. 

  • Understanding processes, tools, and techniques for assessing and controlling an organization's exposure to risks of various kinds and can apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques. 

  • Reinforcing priorities, goals, and objectives throughout the year with supplier diversity champions across the enterprise. 



What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • People leader experience. 

  • Experience in supplier program management.

  • Held external board seats with community partner organizations.

  • Experience creating and delivering presentations to all levels of the organization. 

  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time. 



Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree.

  • Diversity equity and inclusion certification.

  • Knowledge of regulatory reporting. 

  • Demonstrated engagement and recognition of DE&I efforts.

  • Data analytics experience. 

  • Experience in public speaking. 

  • Ability to evaluate, interpret, and improve the language used in contractual agreements.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels of the organization.

  • Experience influencing internal and external executive stakeholders.

Where you’ll be working

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.

If you are hired into a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Washington or Washington, D.C. work location, the compensation range for this position is between $133,000.00 and $247,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
