About this Role

The Lineman C is an entry-level position. This role involves assisting A-linemen and other crew members with fundamental tasks while gaining essential knowledge of electrical distribution line work. The Lineman Apprentice C will focus on ground-level responsibilities, tool preparation, and adherence to safety protocols, while progressively gaining exposure to aerial work and more advanced tasks.

What You'll Do

  • Job Responsibilities:

    • Assist with basic tasks such as gathering tools, preparing materials, and maintaining a clean work area and working on low voltage systems under the direct supervision of a qualified lineman.
    • Perform equipment operations/inspections, groundwork, including digging trenches, transporting materials, and handling tools.
    • Begin learning how to set poles and perform basic line installation tasks under supervision.
    • Observe and practice safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Support the crew in performing routine inspections and maintenance of equipment.
    • Learn how to operate basic equipment and tools used in line work.
    • Guy wire tensioning and secondary guy wire /hardware installation.
    • Attend safety meetings and adhere to all safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

What You'll Bring

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • May be required to relocate as work requirements demand.
  • Assist with basic tasks such as gathering tools, preparing materials, and maintaining a clean work area.
  • Perform groundwork, including digging trenches, transporting materials, and handling tools.
  • Begin learning how to set poles and perform basic line installation tasks under supervision.
  • Support the crew in performing routine inspections and maintenance of equipment.
  • Learn how to operate basic equipment and tools used in line work.
  • Walking and working across uneven terrain.
  • Valid Driver's License and a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Physical Requirements:

  • Work from heights.
  • Able to lift 60 lbs unassisted.
  • Work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.

Skills Requirements:

  • Possess critical thinking skills.
  • Able to effectively communicate with others.
  • Ability to communicate in writing.
