About this Role

R.R. Cassidy is seeking an experienced and self-motivated Electrical Technician to join our expanding team. This role involves the testing and commissioning of electrical power systems and controls, supporting complex projects in the electric power industry. The position requires both office-based work and on-site fieldwork, with travel expected.

What You'll Do

  • Review project electrical drawings, studies, and relay settings to ensure compliance and readiness.
  • Conduct visual inspections of equipment and installations to align with design documentation and identify safety or quality issues.
  • Evaluate vendor and subcontractor documentation for proper installation and startup readiness.
  • Proactively recommend and conduct additional checks when necessary documentation is insufficient.
  • Resolve non-compliance issues with equipment and site materials.
  • Travel to project sites to lead technical activities, transitioning projects from cold-ready to operational states.
  • Perform visual inspections, equipment checkouts, and required electrical tests.
  • Oversee pre-energization safety checks, including the testing of electrical protective devices.
  • Manage system energization, functional integration, system tuning, and performance testing.
  • Maintain a safety-first mindset, confident in halting work to ensure safety of personnel and property.
  • Prepare for extensive travel, including trips lasting several weeks and planned high-travel periods

What You'll Bring

  • 2+ years in testing and commissioning electrical power systems and controls.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical diagrams (single-line, three-line, schematics, network, and mechanical).
  • Programming and commissioning network-connected control systems and devices, such as protective relays, RTACs, RTUs, and utility-scale inverters.
  •  Strong troubleshooting abilities for electrical equipment and controls during startup and post-startup phases.
  • Familiarity with electrical hazards (e.g., shock, arc flash) and adherence to industry-standard safety practices.
  • Comfortable working in both office and field environments.
