Alternatives Structuring Group 

The Alternatives Structuring Group (ASG) is a newly formed global group within the business team of the Asset and Wealth Management Division (AWM).   

The ASG team is housed within the Alternatives business and focuses on tax and other client solutions for wealth and institutional investors in alternative investments including private equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure, growth equity, sustainability, secondaries, GP stakes, and hedge funds / liquid alternatives.   

ASG partners closely with the investing, client solutions and wealth management teams.   Professional development initiatives provide opportunities to enhance expertise across alternative investment products, and to sharpen market knowledge from industry experts investing across the Firm. 

This is a rapidly growing, interesting and exciting segment of the industry and division.

Role Overview & Job Responsibilities

  • ASG is looking for an Analyst and/or an Associate in London to support the growing ASG team in EMEA.
  • The candidate should have strong knowledge of UK tax (ideally in alternatives and/or wealth products, although this is not an absolute requirement)
  • Knowledge of OECD / international and US tax concepts would be helpful but is not required
  • The candidate should be able to think creatively about planning strategies to mitigate tax leakage for funds and clients
  • Responsibilities include
  • The candidate must be a team player and self-motivated, demonstrating a willingness to take on more responsibility over time as the team grows
  • Client engagement / meetings, and potential for business travel. 
  • Close co-ordination with investment teams and client solutions teams

 Preferred Qualifications

1-3+ years of tax work experience at a big 4 public accounting or recognised law firm, preferably in the alternatives funds / wealth space 

  • Attention to detail—proven experience of delivering high levels of accuracy
  • Excellent communication (written and oral), analytical, presentational and interpersonal skills
  • Strong relationship building skills, for use with both clients and internal stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Quantitative, analytical & modelling skills are preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced team environment
  • Strong skills in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
