HSE Training Instructor

Department: HSE

Job Status: Full Time

FLSA Status: Salary - Exempt

Reports To: Training & Compliance Manager

Location: The Woodlands, TX

Amount of Travel Required: 20-25%

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm  and overtime as needed

POSITION SUMMARY: The HSE Training Instructor administers and instructs new-hire orientation for all new employees, conducts annual HSE compliance retraining, and drives continuous development/improvement of the existing training curriculum. The HSE Training Instructor will teach and support company safety controls and programs that reduce accident/incident frequency and prevent other losses while embracing the company's safety philosophy and culture.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word 'may.')

  • Coordinate, schedule, and conduct HSE training classes for Evolution’s employees
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on industry regulations
  • Update training course presentations according to industry regulation changes
  • Maintain database of employees’ training records
  • Willingness and ability to travel to teach courses at other district training facilities
  • Some training is conducted outdoors at a field training facility
  • Conduct hands-on training on heavy equipment (forklift, crane, aerial lift), fire extinguishers, confined space
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE LEVEL

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, education, or a related subject
  • Three years of experience as an instructor
  • Certified IADC RigPass and/or Veriforce Safeland/H2S Instructor
  • Certified Medic First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor
  • Excellent skills in written and oral communication/presentations
  • Strong computer skills with email, word processing, PowerPoint and database applications
  • Certified equipment operator trainer experience (forklift, crane, aerial lifts, etc.)
  • Hydraulic fracturing experience or knowledge

  • Strong Communication Skills: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to deliver clear and concise instructions during training sessions, meetings, and safety briefings.
  • Presentation Abilities: Ability to effectively present information and training content to diverse audiences, ensuring engagement and retention.
  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, industry standards (OSHA, IADC, Veriforce), and best practices relevant to the hydraulic fracturing and energy sector.
  • Instructional Skills: Proficient in developing and delivering training materials, with the ability to adapt complex safety protocols into understandable content for varying knowledge levels.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly assess and resolve safety issues and adapt training techniques based on evolving industry regulations or company policies.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous in maintaining accurate training records and ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Leadership & Facilitation: Ability to lead training sessions, facilitate group learning, and mentor employees on safety practices and equipment usage.
  • Adaptability: Able to adjust training styles and approaches based on location, equipment, and team needs, including conducting hands-on training in field environments.
  • Time Management: Efficient in scheduling and managing multiple training sessions across various locations while meeting deadlines and travel requirements.
  • Technological Proficiency: Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), database management, and learning management systems to update training content and track certifications.
  • Equipment Knowledge: Competent in operating and instructing the safe use of forklifts, cranes, aerial lifts, and other heavy equipment.
  • Safety-Focused Mindset: Demonstrated commitment to promoting a culture of safety, preventing accidents/incidents, and proactively addressing potential hazards.
