About this Role

A Journeyman Electrician with Irby Construction Company shall possess a minimum of one (5) years of experience in a Journeymen electrical role. Commercial, or Industrial construction Journeymen electrical experience is a plus. Journeymen electricians must have a valid journeymen electrician State issued or NCCER card or be able to pass the Journeyman electricians test per NEC standards. The individual will possess all the skills required for assignment from the foreman for complete electrical installations.  Such an employee shall also have in-depth knowledge of all applicable OSHA codes and standards, as well as the National Electrical Code.

THIS JOB LOCATION WILL BE IN THE REGION SURROUNDING ABILENE, TEXAS, AND THE PANHANDLE OF FLORIDA.

What You'll Do

Typical Overhead to Underground service conversion construction. This includes:

  • Trenching for conduit and hand hole installation
  • Backfilling and compacting
  • Pulling conductors from transformer to meter can
  • Install Junction Box on customers house and terminate connections
  • Energizing UG service and removing OH service
  • Restoring customer property after work is completed

Job Specific Duties

  • Being able to read and understand Schematics and Control cable schedules from the client.
  • PVC, Rigid, PVC Coated Rigid, and EMT Conduit fabrication and installation, both underground and above grade
  • Cable Tray fabrication and installation (Ladder Tray, Basket Tray, Channel Tray, etc.)
  • Precast Concrete Trench fabrication and Installations
  • Panel Rack and Panel Board fabrication and installations
  • Pull Cable in direct burial, conduit, Cable Trench, and other Raceways
  • Cable termination including but not limited to AC/DC, CAT6, Copper Conductors, Aluminum Conductors
  • Medium Voltage Termination (Dead Break Elbows, T-Bodies, Stress Cones, etc.)
  • Operate Mini Ex, Skid Steer, Forklift, Ride on Trencher, Digger Derricks, Bucket Truck, Aerial lifts

Insulation Resistance Testing, Hi POT Testing, VLF Testing, Voltage Verifications

What You'll Bring

  • Industrial Journeyman Electricians (State Journeyman's License, NCCER+, NCCER
  • Adheres to all Company Safety and Health Policies
  • A valid Class A CDL is a Plus
  • Must be willing to stay out of town. Typical work weeks are 4-10 hour shifts thru 6-10 hour shifts. Available to travel as the project requires.
  • Willing to work over-time and be able to work extended periods of time.
  • Walking and working across uneven terrain.
  • Climbing on and off large trucks and equipment.
  • Must be able to work outside 100% of the time. We work in inclement weather that includes heat, cold, rain and possible snow.
  • Able to lift in excess 50 pounds on a daily basis.
  • Must be able to work around energized systems.
  • Must be able and willing to assist with other activities while not actively performing Journeymen electrician duties.
