About this Role

Position:  Mechanical Engineer II – Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Channelview, Texas(Experience:  10 plus years)

What You'll Do

Responsibilities:

  • Specify mechanical equipment, such as pumps, compressors, valves, tanks, etc., for oil and gas facilities projects.
  • Ensure all work meets ASME standards, including ASME BPVC Sec. VIII Div. 1 and American Petroleum Institute practices and standard such as API 610, 618 & 682.
  • Prepare hourly cost and resource estimates for project bids.
  • Evaluate equipment for construction bids.
  • Interface as necessary with Company engineering and project management, drafting, purchasing, as well as outside consultant engineering firms, inspection, and operations personnel.
  • Occasional travel to the job site to meet with clients and construction personnel as necessary to scope projects and collect information for design.
  • Routinely handle multiple projects simultaneously and effectively prioritize tasks.

What You'll Bring

Qualifications:

  • This position requires a BS Degree in a mechanical Engineering from an accredited College/University.
  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) is desired. EITs or applicants in process to become PE licensed will also be considered.
  • Working knowledge of B31-3, B31-4, B31-7 and B31-8 and experience with Part 49 CFR, Part 195 – transportation of hazardous liquids.
  • Mechanical Engineer II - 10 plus years of experience, working in engineering consulting.
  • Capable of working efficiently to meet deadlines. 
  • Experience working with process engineers on mechanical equipment, updating P&ID's, sizing pumps, compressors, heat exchangers and pressure vessels.
  • Experience with Caesar II pipe stress a plus. 
  • Other responsibilities include specialty item specifications and review of pipe specifications.
