The Opportunity:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Mission Operations Engineer to join our team working on the Makalu contract. This role involves supporting, promoting, and enhancing mission-critical applications that provide Situational Awareness and Collaboration capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to bridge the gap between technical teams and end-users in the Intelligence Community and military.

On team Makalu, Mission Operations Engineers are an integral part of the development team. Experienced intelligence analysts with strong analytic and communication skills are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities include support to ongoing engineering and training related for Bōdhi, a cutting-edge situational awareness tool, and ChatSurfer, a DoD and IC collaboration tool, supporting watch floor activities and significant event monitoring.  You will serve as a focal point for Makalu outreach efforts in the following ways: participating in the development of course material and curriculum, assisting groups who are integrating Bōdhi and ChatSurfer into mission operations, providing in-depth training, and conducting demonstration and briefing support at corporate/customer locations. In addition, you will interact with the program’s engineering team and other outreach members to identify and define customer requirements, providing your valued operational perspective to support current and future development activities.

Travel: This position may include up to 25% travel in support of in-person training efforts to both CONUS and OCONUS locations. 

Responsibilities:

  • User Support via chat, phone, or user tickets
  • Testing new capabilities as well as regression testing as needed
  • Leverage your analytical and operational experience to integrate Bōdhi/ChatSurfer into operations supporting various missions across the IC and DoD
  • Conduct in-depth training courses that includes demonstration, lecture and hands-on approaches for students at factory and CONUS/OCONUS customer locations
  • Introduce and integrate Bōdhi/Chatsurfer into a broad range of unique customer mission sets
  • Work closely with Makalu’s software development team to provide feedback and influence how are new features are developed
  • Conduct briefings and provide demonstration support to various IC and DOD customers as requested by the program.  This may include community seniors and military officers
  • Update training materials to reflect Bodhi/Chatsurfer’s latest features
  • Capture customer requirements and feedback for possible inclusion in future development efforts
  • Assist in testing new features and updates, providing an operational perspective
  • Document user feedback and operational insights to guide product improvements

Qualifications:

Required: 

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance with CI Poly (or agreement to take poly when requested)
  • Typically requires a University Degree (BA/BS) or equivalent and 3+ years of related military and/or government professional experience supporting a cryptologic mission
  • Ability and willingness to support the travel requirement of up to 25%; in addition, local travel to customer locations
  • Minimum two years’ experience performing analytical work in the Intelligence Community
  • Prior trainer/instructor experience
  • Previous experience supporting both DoD and Intelligence Community customers, to include interactions with community seniors and military officers
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.  Will be expected to brief and contribute to written documentation
  • Proven, detail-oriented analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work with and support end users with varying levels of technical competence
  • Team player with the ability to also work independently and with limited supervision
  • Understanding of IC/military operations

Desired:

  • Experience using or familiarity with Bōdhi
  • Experience using or familiarity with ChatSurfer
  • Experience using industry tools such as FADE (MIST, INTELBOOK, LINX and/or WATCHBOX), Thresher, Chatsurfer, Savant, etc.
  • Background in adult learning and/or instructional systems design
  • Experience in the creation of training materials
  • Familiarity with or prior experience supporting software development activities
  • Knowledge of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS)
  • Prior experience using JIRA software - understanding of or experience in agile software development

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$62,800-$128,600
