What you’ll be doing...

The Payment Strategy Manager will be part of the Finance Operations Payments Strategy & Operations team based in Basking Ridge, NJ or Lake Mary, FL.

This role is responsible for the delivery of special projects towards the development of new payments capabilities for Verizon. Primary responsibilities will include assisting with the development of a payment capabilities roadmap to significantly transform the payments acceptance costs to help remove 100 million dollars from Verizon’s P&L. You will develop business cases for next generation payments projects that will drive cost efficiencies and stakeholder return for Verizon. This is a unique Finance role that will allow the candidate to work across the finance organization and other parts of Verizon to help drive strategic thinking and initiatives for payments capabilities



What we’re looking for...

This role will also be responsible for understanding the current methods and channels whereby Verizon collects payments from our Wireless and Wireline customers.  The Manager will need to be able to provide insightful recommendations for future Verizon customer payment and processing options.  Also be able to conduct close cross functional collaboration with key stakeholders across marketing, operations, technologies and finance to define existing payments processes.  This position will need to prioritize, develop and deploy payment related projects that ultimately lead to the attainment of business goals and objectives.  Responsible for all aspects of the development & implementation of new functionality and deliverables; provide a single point of contact for those projects - original concept thru final implementation.  The position is expected to receive broad guidance and be accountable for project or program results and exercise considerable judgment in developing methods, techniques & evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

Serves as governance, advisor, and project manager for the team strategy. Ensures streamlined activities within the organization based on the priorities of the organization. Leads a wide variety of initiatives including strategic planning, executive advisory, tool development, and creating more efficient ways of working.

  • Work with business unit data users to develop go forward roadmaps for new strategic data procurement and enhancement initiatives.
  • Developing and maintaining a perspective on how data could be leveraged across the Verizon ecosystem, and serve as a promoter as appropriate.
  • Serve as a point of coordination with data consumers in businesses and functions on what existing internal and third-party data might be useful for business needs.
  • Manage incoming demand for perspective data types (e.g., understand business use cases/initiatives, translate business needs into data requirements) and provide support (e.g., identify approved external data sources, prospective supplemental data generated by the enterprise).
  • Establish and execute on the enterprise-wide communication and change management plan to promote effective data management/stewardship and shift mindsets.
  • Manage working relationships with product and project managers across projects within Verizon with strong lines of communication.


You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

  • Experience developing innovative products, strategic roadmaps or loyalty solutions

  • Experience with payment networks and payment processing related to ACH, debit/credit card and digital wallets.

  • Detail oriented and excellent analytical and investigative/problem-solving skills

  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage continuously changing business needs.

  • Excellent multi-tasking and time management skills

  • Experience and demonstrated competency in managing resources, tasks, contracts, scope, and budgets for projects in the context of large, enterprise-wide technology initiatives.

  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills.

  • Excellent analytical skills, as well as accuracy and attention to details.
