Job Description

The Risk division is responsible for credit, market and operational risk, model risk, independent liquidity risk, and insurance throughout the firm.

The Operational Risk Department at Goldman Sachs is an independent risk management function responsible for developing and implementing a standardized framework to identify, measure, and monitor operational risk across the firm. 

This Data Management Operational Risk role is for a professional with subject matter expertise dedicated to strengthening the components of the firm’s operational risk management framework relating to data management practices such that data quality of the firm’s critical data used in key business management processes is assured. This role will be crucial role for multi-month to multi-year projects and programs. Responsible for collaborating with multiple teams within Operational Riska and Data Governance Office within the Engineering division. 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead project management for OpRisk Data Governance program
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including scope, objectives, timelines and resource allocations 
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including business requirements, process flows and user guides 
  • Analyze current business processes, develop process maps and workflows to support project objectives and decision making 
  • Assist with new process implementation process flows and documentation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with planned objectives and outcomes 
  • Ensure project deliverable meet quality standards and stakeholder expectations, conduct regular reviews and assess project process and outcomes 
  • Lead project status reporting of key deliverables and issues for management reporting to senior Operational Risk management team and Divisional managers 
  • Identify potential project risks and develop strategies to mitigate, monitor and manage risk throughout project lifecycle 
  • Assist with annual process, procedure and requirement updates and approval 

Qualifications: 

  • Strong project management background with general awareness of data governance related processes or strong grounding in operational risks and business flows of global banking institutions
  • Establish a well-organized and controlled environment for the working team and can adapt to different projects with varying stakeholders
  • 6+ years of relevant experience, which could include working in project management in engineering/finance/risk divisions of financial institutions or working in data management reliant regulatory reporting such as BCBS239, Basel 3 or CCAR in financial institutions or working the data management /regulatory implementation practices in consulting organizations.
  • Strong data analysis skills: ability to expertly use project management tools including but not limited to JIRA, SharePoint, Visio and Excel to develop and manage project plans 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present with impact and influence.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong delivery focus
  • Ability to work in a team environment and knowledge share with other colleagues within team
  • Can pivot and adjust plans as analysis or decisions necessitate a change in direction 
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree, Finance, Data Science, Economics, Computer Science, or related disciplines
