Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a Safety Clerk to join our Phoenix, AZ team! The Safety Clerk plays a vital role in supporting the Operations and Safety departments within Summit Line Construction. This full-time, onsite position is responsible for a wide range of administrative tasks including data entry, record keeping, reconciling, typing, filing, scheduling, supply management, and orientation training. This position demands strong, detail-oriented organizational skills to maintain efficient and accurate administrative processes that are essential to the region's overall success. 

What You'll Do

Essential Job Skills/Duties:  

  • Documentation and Record Keeping 
    • Assist in day-to-day tasks and projects, which may include research, data entry, administrative support, or assisting with specific initiatives.  
    • Enter and maintain employee training data, client reporting instructions, organize crew rosters and assist with developing weekly, monthly, annual training reports. 
    • Maintain safety program document library and communicate safety messages across company. 
    • Collect and organize employee records and ensure compliance with labor laws. 
    • Prepare written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective measures. 
    • Manage and maintain weekly client report requests. 
  • Leadership and Compliance 
    • Understand and promote The Capacity Model and additional safety initiatives. 
    • Inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations. 
    • Coordinate and maintain company AED devices. 
    • Work closely with Office Manager and Safety department to ensure policies are being followed and employees are treated fairly. 
    • Support Company HSE training to ensure it complies with state and federal regulations.\u202f 
  • Training and Development 
    • Ensure a safe working environment for employees by providing support during new hire orientation, managing Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) Inventory. 
    • Assist in identifying training needs and gaps and work with Training Director to schedule future courses. 
    • Offer specific training programs to help workers maintain or improve job skills.\u202f 
    • Assist in developing training procedure manuals, guides, or course materials, such as handouts or visual materials.\u202f

    • Assist Office Manager with scheduling pre-employment and random drug testing  
  • Communication and Collaboration 
    • Collaborate with team members to contribute to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of departmental activities. 
    • Facilitate safety trainings as required. 
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively and maintain working relationships with employees, supervisory personnel, state and local officials, consultants, and sub-contractors.\u202f

Qualifications: 

  • Leadership and Confidentiality:
    • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with employees, effective leadership qualities to manage challenges and oversee productivity, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.  
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite, particularly strong Microsoft Excel skills.   
  • Multi-Tasking and Adaptability:
    • Excellent organizational and planning skills with attention to detail, capable of working in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate adaptability by switching directions as needed.  
  • Education/Experience:
    • High School Degree or GED is required. 1-2 years of administrative experience is preferred. Bilingual recommended.  
  • Compliance:
    • Must pass mandatory drug and alcohol screenings.
