What you’ll be doing...

You will be responsible for using your knowledge of industry best practices combined with your out-of-the-box thinking, to apply the latest and most effective selection and assessment approaches. You'll also make sure that our recruiters have all the tools they need and that everything we do complies with legal and OFCCP standards. In this Selection and Assessment Senior Manager role, you will be supporting the center of excellence that is responsible for enterprise-wide programs supporting leadership competency modeling, employee feedback tools, and non-proctored assessments for development that support internal career growth and skill-based organizational programs. In this role, you will be providing consulting and project leadership through:

  • Developing strategy for the use of assessments for employee development across the global enterprise and aligned with Verizon’s overall talent strategy.

  • Working with Generative AI skills vendors, internal genAI platforms, and analytics teams and tools to research, evaluate, innovate, and build out assessment solutions in support of Verizon’s skills-based organizational strategy.

  • Partnering with other Talent centers of excellence (Learning & Development, Talent GPS, Talent Planning, Talent Acquisition, Strategic Workforce Planning, and Performance Management & Development) to design and implement assessments and leadership tools that align with skills and integrated talent management strategy.

  • Leading/managing large-scale cross-functional projects to identify developmental assessment needs using needs analysis and/or job analysis/competency modeling.

  • Compiling and/or conducting benchmarking and reviews of existing assessments for development research literature to support the development of assessment strategy.

  • Partnering with and/or project managing teams of niche professionals with subject matter expertise in psychometric assessment/measurement, skills/competencies, and coaching.

  • Identifying and partnering with best-in-class assessments for development vendors.

  • Developing implementation guidelines, processes, communications, and training to support assessment tool implementations.

  • Creating and conducting success measurement/ program evaluation studies to demonstrate ROI for strategies and tools. 

  • Serving as an expert resource for questions regarding assessment considerations.

  • Ensuring assessments are implemented in compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, audit, and professional requirements (e.g., Uniform Guidelines, OFCCP, SIOP, APA Standards), including technical documentation and analysis.

  • Leading and managing assessment vendors.

  • Contributing to HR transformation projects (growing talent strategy, helping infuse skills in talent ecosystem, shaping future priority of career-focused Talent GPS program), as needed. 

In this hybrid role, you may sit in any Verizon hub location.



What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

  • Experience with workplace assessments.

  • Experience in global learning and development strategy and evaluation.

  • Experience applying assessment practices/methodology to talent management or training.

  • Experience in leadership modeling and leadership assessments. 

  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.



Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Ph.D. or Masters in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Organizational Development, Human Resource Management, or related field.

  • Consulting experience in selection and assessment (e.g. corporate HR setting, external consulting firm).

  • Experience with validation practices.

  • Experience project managing and implementing large-scale learning and development and/or assessment-related projects in a corporate environment.

  • Experience leading a team and/or coaching/developing employees.

  • Experience creating and/or delivering executive presentations.

  • Exposure to AI/Machine learning skills vendors, technologies, and methodologies.

  • Experience with professional standards and practice in employment testing and measurement (e.g., Uniform Guidelines, OFCCP, SIOP, APA Standards).

  • Experience in Excel, SPSS, SAS, or other statistical packages for data/trend analysis.

  • Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint, Google Slides, Excel, and Google Sheets.

  • Strong understanding of employee development and related processes, tools, and techniques.

  • Strong strategic thinking skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a consultative advisor within areas of expertise.

  • Strong story-telling and presentation-building skills.

  • Excellent project management skills; ability to manage multiple large-scale projects.

  • Excellent critical thinking and decision‐making skills when working under pressure.

  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to relate to, communicate with, build alliances with, and influence stakeholders and senior executives.

  • Persistence in driving ideas and delivering quality solutions and deliverables against tight deadlines.

  • Ability to communicate data-based information effectively and concisely to corporate stakeholders.

  • Ability to conduct qualitative and inferential statistical analyses.

  • Persistence in driving ideas and delivering quality solutions and deliverables against tight deadlines.

  • Experience interacting with and/or managing vendors.

  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.

If you are hired into a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Washington or Washington, D.C. work location, the compensation range for this position is between $106,000.00 and $196,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
