What you’ll be doing...

At Verizon, our data landscape is going through generational changes. For this team, the objective is to drive growth initiatives for Verizon Business by curating data to build products and work with key business leaders to deliver insights. As a senior data engineer you will focus on collecting data from multiple sources in various formats and loading the data using various tools and frameworks as necessary. You will be facilitating end-to-end data pipelining as well as support maintenance, bug fixes and performance analysis against the data pipelines. You will also expand and optimize data and the data pipeline architecture as we migrate to Google Cloud Platform and work with partners to understand requirements and effectively prioritize for their implementations.

  • Processing large amounts of structured and unstructured data, including integrating data from multiple sources.

  • Building secure, scalable, and stable data solutions using data storage technologies, distributed file system, data processing, and business intelligence best practices.

  • Designing and planning for solutions in the various engineering subject areas as it relates to data storage and movement solutions: Enterprise system data architecture, data design, data persistence technologies, data processing, data management, and data analysis.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience

  • Four or more years of relevant work experience 

  • Hands on working experience in Google Cloud Platform technologies like Big query, Composer, Dataflow .

  • Hands on working experience in Big Data Technologies like HIVE/Spark/HSQL/OOZIE

  • Experience in analyzing large amounts of information to discover trends and data

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Master's degree

  • Certification on data engineering tools and technologies.

  • Experience with large cluster, databases, BI tools, data quality and performance tuning.

  • Experience working on cloud technologies.

  • Working knowledge of database (Teradata) and SQL (Structured Query Language)

  • Experience in design and build of the infrastructure for data extraction, preparation, and loading of data from a variety of sources using technology such as Non -SQL and Big data.

  • Experience in building data and analytics tools that will offer deeper insight into the pipeline, allowing for critical discoveries surrounding key performance indicators and customer activity

  • Experience in identifying valuable data sources and automate collection processes

  • Experience in undertaking and preprocessing of structured and unstructured data



Where you’ll be working

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.
