The Sr. Director of Solution Design and Enablement (SDE) will lead the SDE organization, driving excellence in the presales process through solution development, solution selling, and deal closure through strategic engagement to maximize sales efforts and revenue creation. This role will lead a national organization of Solution Engineers that drive the execution of sales activity to include: interfacing with internal and external stakeholder organizations, facilitating the design and consistent implementation of multi-tower solutions, creation of design artifacts, and management of customer relationships.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Verizon Business Group’s solutions; a broad industry knowledge; a command of networking technologies across both wireline and wireless domains and associated technologies.  This role requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong matrix management, and outstanding leadership competencies.  The ideal candidate will foster teamwork through cross-functional collaboration and use of the Influence competency.  

Responsibilities:

  • Develop policies and strategies for the SD&E organization; develop and implement strategic plans to ensure a high-performance environment integrated with the Business Units and Sales Segments.

  • Create and implement a vision for the SD&E Solutions organization to maximize results and productivity.

  • Provide leadership for teams to ensure engagement with key business stakeholders and subject matter experts.

  • Ensure the team demonstrates Verizon's solution differentiation and advantages and can position themselves as thought leaders on technology design.

  • Develop the team's professional skill set and expand product knowledge to maximize value.

  • Identify and implement optimization opportunities across roles to drive maximum efficiency.

  • Demonstrate and encourage ongoing performance coaching to refresh, elevate and unlock talent including the use of the performance improvement process.

  • Provide timely market information, drivers, and customer feedback to partner organizations for product and technology positioning and enhancements.

  • Develop and cultivate relationships with senior management and executive levels, both internally and externally

  • Make decisions regarding hiring, firing, advancement, performance, promotion, or any other change of status of team members.

  • Ensure the team manages the SAR (Solutions Architect Request) process and looks for opportunities to use and prioritize automation efforts based on reporting data.

  • Evaluate their team's workload and look at reporting that ties effort to results.

  • Ensure further development of the SDE dashboard to identify patterns and requirements across the business units and look for productivity, efficiency and automation opportunities.

  • Lead initiatives aimed at streamlining processes, improving tools, and identifying automation opportunities within the SDE team to accelerate service delivery to our customers while maintaining a high standard of service delivery.

  • Coach the team to collaborate with internal support organizations to develop comprehensive customer proposals. Ensure the success of the matrix management across the business.

  • Lead and coordinate the team in communicating with customers to understand their business needs or facilitate customer interactions to assess those needs.

  • Understand and assist the team in using internal Verizon processes and tools/systems with a view on driving simplicity within them.

  • Coach their team on business and market trends and foster internal collaboration to effectively position Verizon products, solutions, and services against competitors.

  • Establish a unified analytical approach for all teams in alignment with the BU/Segment sales objectives. Deliver reporting capability that not only ties results to workload but also enables improvements of alignment, geography or solution support.

  • Oversee the end-to-end business across geographical regions, ensuring their team meets sales targets and operational standards while maintaining the health of key performance indicators within their segment.

  • Engage in ongoing continuous improvement to ensure enterprise agility and alignment to change across the business.

What we’re looking for...

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline and/or directly related equivalent experience; MS or MBA degree preferred

  • 10+ years' experience in a variety of disciplines related to the architecting/solutions of IT technologies; experience in both wireline and wireless technologies a strong plus

  • Demonstrated record of direct management experience of managers of individual contributors, including workforce planning, coaching, and managing performance for large teams

  • Experience interfacing directly with senior leaders

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver effective customer presentations and customer-facing material

  • Demonstrated experience in financial analysis (i.e., P&L, ROI, cost analysis, business case development, etc.)

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.
