Job Description

The Summer Associate Intern will work in a flexible hybrid manner (2 days per week in office) and report to Marketing leadership at our Vienna, VA campus. This role will be a member of the Marketing Orchestration & Analytics team – a diverse group of analysts focused on developing marketing use cases and strategies and understanding the resulting impact to our members and business objectives. Our group fills the critical role of bridging traditional marketing theory and process with 21st Century marketing technology and practice to provide Member Centric Experience. This work includes the development of reporting, ad-hoc analyses, and recommendations that will ultimately confirm the results of and expand the organizational value of what we call the Next Best Interaction marketing program.

The team collaborates closely with various departments across the organization to ensure our business intelligence deliverables provide our stakeholders with the data, metrics and insights that will fuel their decision-making. It will be essential for the team member in this position be an adept data interpreter/translator, curious problem-solver, and storyteller. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner who is able to stay current on new technology and best practices for producing impactful reporting and analyses. 

The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2025 and ending in August 2025. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2025 or later.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is an analytical storyteller who knows how to communicate their message across multiple departments & teams (regardless of title or tenure). 

  • Currently pursuing a graduate (MS, MBA, etc.) or PhD level degree in Marketing Analytics, Business Analytics, or other field with a of applying quantitative methodologies
  • Familiarity with SQL or Python
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (preferably Tableau and/or PowerBI experience), including generating data from relational databases/data warehouses.
  • Exposure to Agile working methodologies 
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office, in particular developing presentations in PowerPoint and working in Excel
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders (direct team, business unit, and/or cross-department)
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Excellent presentation and story-telling skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Basic knowledge of financial services
  • Familiarity with basic statistical theory and methodologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Pega Platform or Customer Decision Hub (CDH)
  • Familiarity with general marketing concepts, measurement & tracking
  • Experience developing business requirements and/or business process diagrams
  • Experience developing business process, definitions, KPIs, and/or optimization 
  • Familiarity with SAS or SPSS suite of products (JMP, Modeler, Statistics)
  • Experience working with Sharepoint
Responsibilities

The Summer Associate will work on a 12-week project such as exploring improvements in ways of working/thinking around NFCU marketing automation tools and related outcomes, identifying applications for AI in the NFCU Marketing Department, or providing an assessment of NFCU Marketing large business processes/ways of working. Project is subject to change based on department needs and enterprise focus. Project topics may be subject to change based on business needs.

Additional duties/development opportunities will include providing reporting/analytical support within a SCRUM team and leading on adhoc reporting/analytical projects of low to medium complexity with senior leadership visibility.
