Job Description

Team Overview: Our team provides support to the recovery team that collects on charged off lending losses for the Credit Union. That support includes back-office duties, a team of contractors who work parallel to our LCR team to help recover losses and managing a yearly debt sale.

Summer is our peak time for the yearly debt sale preparation and execution. The summer associate will help us review files, process payments, perform system clean-up efforts, and attend meetings to observe what the sale process consists of and what behind the scenes work is required. They will have exposure to multiple departments on these meetings and have a unique opportunity to be part of a collaborative project.  We expect some involvement in the ongoing CACS X upgrade as well during this time, so they will be part of another substantial project in the Collections Division.

The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2025 and ending in August 2025. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2025 or later.

Qualifications
  • Ability to review, comprehend and analyze written material.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Maintain accuracy with attention to detail and consistently meeting deadlines.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products to create reporting, data compilation and presentations.
Responsibilities
  • Perform administrative duties in support of the LCR Counselors, Recoveries portfolio and outsourcing efforts.
  • Gather and compile data and/or documents for account research purposes for use when answering debt buyer inquiries.
  • Data review and system maintenance for sold accounts and/or debt sale buybacks.
  • Maintain and monitor recovery files including internal documents, communication with outside vendors.
  • Prepare debt sale buyback files and coordinate with the buyer on the account transfer process.
  • Create and compile reporting using intermediate to high level knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Excel and PowerPoint
  • Partner with other business units and vendors to improve procedures, resolve problems, and implement initiatives, present conclusions, and recommendations to management.
