Job Description

The Fraud Data & Reporting (FDR) team provides actionable intelligence that guides Navy Federal’s fraud mitigation efforts, accomplished through dashboards, reporting and analysis. Our intelligence supports data driven decision-making for Security Division leadership and an efficient Fraud Operations workforce.  FDR collaborates with partners within Security and throughout the enterprise, such as Membership, Contact Center and Branch Operations, in our efforts to fight fraud and protect our members. The Summer Associate will be an integral member of our fraud fighting team, and will synthesize cloud, vendor, and on-prem data to produce strategic dashboards that deliver actionable insights into fraud trends. Potential projects include:

  • Partner with Fraud Detection team to develop fraud trend dashboards that identifies fraud vulnerabilities and supports countermeasure development.
  • Identify key drivers of fraud using complex statistical analysis that can be used to forecast fraud losses for annual financial planning.
  • Propose and implement data driven solutions to Fraud Operations leadership that optimizes loss mitigation and workforce productivity.

The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2025 and ending in August 2025. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2025 or later.

Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Information Systems, Business Analytics, Data Science, Analytics, or other related degree
  • Experience with SQL
  • Exposure to scripting languages (Python, R, etc.)
  • Experience with data visualization (PowerBI, Tableau)
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies (Microsoft Azure, Databricks)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Effective skill maintaining accuracy with attention to detail and meeting deadlines
  • Curiosity to dig into data and collaborate with others to solve ambiguous problems
  • Ability to adapt to fast changing business needs
Responsibilities
  • Synthesize cloud, and vendor data for analytics and business intelligence (BI) solutions
  • Work directly with fraud experts across the division to understand requirements and propose key analytics solutions to drive data-driven decision-making
  • Collaborate with business units and senior leadership to conduct needs assessment to support organizational strategies, and solutions that support business unit objectives
  • Effectively communicate fraud trends and insights to business stakeholders and leadership
  • Develop appropriate analytical approaches to identify and assess fraud mitigation strategies and opportunities.
  • Provide ad hoc analytical support for key partners throughout the enterprise
  • Evaluate operational efficiency and effectiveness across the division
  • Perform other duties as assigned
