What you’ll be doing...

At Verizon, we innovate constantly to help the biggest names in business do business – quicker and smarter. It takes vision. It takes focus. And we apply both every bit as much to the way we do business too. The brightest minds, the latest technologies and pioneering processes are combining to enhance this critical business function at our Center for Excellence. We’re finding new ways to add value and provide strategic support. This is the kind of work we do. And you can be part of it.

We have a world-class sales organization determined to change the world and empower our customers to do the same. Your role is critical in ensuring our sales colleagues are appropriately compensated for their outstanding performance. Commission payments are one of the many ways that we reward our salespeople for their success. You’ll be ensuring that we comply with contractual agreements and sales compensation plans by accurately analyzing and processing payments and statements within established timeframes. Interfacing with multiple functions, you’ll implement procedures and controls and maintain our supporting systems. Having a focus on streamlining our processes, using technology to be more efficient and accurate, will help us to be even better.

  • Leading a team of Analysts and Senior Analysts to deliver commissions services, often contributing as a Subject Matter Expert (SME).

  • Managing the commissions’ compensation process and implementing changes based on new compensation plans or new contracts for agents.

  • Demonstrating advanced knowledge of incentive management, financial, accounting, and additional support systems.

  • Identifying improvement opportunities and contributing to the design and implementation of new processes or procedures as a result.

  • Ensuring that incoming and outgoing transaction processes are controlled, effective and efficient.

  • Collaborating internally across the Finance Operations and Commissions team, as well as externally with our outsourcing partners and sales stakeholders.

  • Researching, analyzing, and validating compensation payments, discrepancies, and anomalies for employees’ or agents’ assigned units.

  • Completing all required processing steps, including exceptions, duplicates, commission adjustments, corrections, payment review, personnel changes, and assignments by the published deadline to allow for accurate payment.

  • Working with management to determine appropriate adjustments needed to correct payment discrepancies.

  • Maintaining open communication with customers and/or sales management, providing clear and concise details related to the status and resolution of compensation disputes.

  • Working with sales management and HR on complex issues to coordinate efforts, resolve disputes, and apply new processes to avoid further discrepancies.

  • Participating in User Acceptance Testing activities with new or modified systems to ensure systems are properly paying when enhancements/adjustments, new compensation plans, or new agent contracts are implemented.

  • Analyzing and interpreting reports for managers or agents, and providing recommendations to guide business decisions.

  • Assisting in the assessment of services delivered by the service providers (if any) and validating that performance metrics established by service level agreements are met as applicable.

  • Partnering with key stakeholders to improve complex commissions’ processes, performing effective escalation management, and providing \'quick fix\' solutions.

  • Providing performance reporting and analysis to senior management.

  • Ensuring compliance with internal policies and controls and external regulations, such as Sarbanes Oxley and local entity compliance.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Four or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience.

  • Experience in Finance, Accounting, or Finance Ops.

  • Experience in Compensation Billing, and Order Entry systems.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.

  • Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA).

  • Experience in the technology or telecommunications industry.

  • Experience with Google Suite, Knime, and Tableau.

  • Experience managing a team.

  • Experience in MS Office, especially Excel, Access and PowerPoint.

  • Broad range of skills within the finance discipline to effectively perform routine to complex assignments.

  • Experience with principles, theories, concepts and technologies as well as applied knowledge of established procedures, policies and practices.

  • Query tool experience, such as SQL/Cognos.

  • Experience in improving quality, increasing productivity and exceeding customer expectations.

  • Ability to provide leadership in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment, and to drive complex operational initiatives.

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.
