General Summary:
Temporal Detection of Image Degradation using Transformers
Background
Camera based vision models for autonomous driving may be impacted by cases where the camera is blocked or degraded by e.g. dirt or water or sun glare. These image degradation effects have a strong temporal component. E.g. a blocking mud splash is usually consistent in location over time, while a sun glare moves predictably across the image as the vehicle moves.
Purpose
This thesis aims to explore temporal attention to leverage the temporal aspects in improving detection performance of image degradation detection.
Learning Objectives
• Improved knowledge in the field of temporal detection
• Further, this thesis spans the boundary between detection and tracking which makes it yet more interesting
Student Background
Master studies, experience with python and Machine Learning
Thesis work suitable for 1-2 students.
