Job Description

When you join Verizon

You want more out of a career. A place to share your ideas freely — even if they’re daring or different. Where the true you can learn, grow, and thrive. At Verizon, we power and empower how people live, work and play by connecting them to what brings them joy. We do what we love — driving innovation, creativity, and impact in the world. Our V Team is a community of people who anticipate, lead, and believe that listening is where learning begins. In crisis and in celebration, we come together — lifting our communities and building trust in how we show up, everywhere & always. Want in? Join the V Team Life.

What you’ll be doing…

From internships and co-ops to leadership development programs and entry-level roles, Verizon’s award-winning Campus program allows you to take the next step toward shaping your future. Our Campus program has been recognized with awards like WayUp’s Top 100 Internship Programs and RippleMatch’s Campus Forward Award. Why the accolades? It’s easy. We quickly immerse our interns in meaningful work and projects that deliver tangible business impact. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to network with V Teamers across the globe, find mentors, and establish meaningful friendships that could last a lifetime. Start here and go anywhere, with opportunities across the business. When students like you join the V Team, our network becomes even stronger.

As an Intern with Verizon’s Legal Internship Forward Track Program (VZ LIFT) for 1Ls, you’ll be working with some of the best attorneys in the legal field. This program introduces interns to the complex nature of in-house legal practice at Verizon.

Right from the start you’ll contribute to meaningful projects in our in-house legal department and will be exposed to a variety of work assignments from different practice areas. Additionally, you will be able to participate in many different kinds of learning experiences (such as executive sessions with legal and business leaders in the company, legal training workshops, practice area meetings, and collaborations with some of our partner law firms). What you learn during this internship will help you grow professionally and personally. After the internship is successfully completed, you’ll become part of our Intern Alumni Network, with the opportunity to remain connected with your assigned mentor, exposure to top law firms, and inclusion in our annual alumni events.

You must be in good academic standing to be considered.

In this hybrid internship, you’ll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager. This hybrid internship will be based out of Washington, D.C. If relocation is required, relocation assistance may be available.

If you are interested in other roles and locations in addition to this one, please submit your application to those postings as well in order to be considered.

What we’re looking for...

You’re a motivated self-starter. Never satisfied with the status quo, you’re always trying to beat a personal best. You thrive in a fast-paced environment where new challenges come up every day. You are flexible, dependable, and work well in varying environments. Learning quickly is personally rewarding and inspires you to take smart risks.  You want to make an impact in your community and your company.

You’ll need to have:

  • Ability to complete our 10-week internship that takes place during the summer of 2025.

  • A Bachelor’s degree.

  • Current enrollment as a first-year student in a full-time law degree program with a grad date between December 2026 and June 2027.

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship.

  • Willingness to work virtually and in-person, and to attend company events.

  • Willingness to work in Washington, D.C.  As noted, relocation may be provided in certain situations.  If relocation is required, you must be able to provide your own housing and reliable transportation to the office location.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion in the legal profession (e.g., through membership in affinity groups, academic coursework, extracurricular and volunteer activities, etc).

  • Experience in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.

  • Demonstrated strong verbal, written, communication and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated independent thinking, relationship management, and attention to detail.

  • Analytical and leadership skills.

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.

Where you’ll be working

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.
