Credit Risk

Credit Risk (CR) is responsible for managing the firm’s credit exposure to its trading and lending counterparties. Leveraging its extensive expertise in financial, credit and risk analysis, CR ensures that credit exposure to our counterparties is managed within the firm’s risk appetite. Staffed with more than 270 professionals, CR operates through 12 different offices around the world and credit professionals work closely with many areas of the firm. CR professionals gain diverse financial experience and a broad perspective on how the entire firm functions. The interaction with numerous departments and the range of projects that ensue allow for a challenging, varied and multi-dimensional work environment. 

Credit Risk ICR Governance Team Overview

The Credit Risk ICR Governance Team is a cross-industry global team with central oversight of the Internal Credit Ratings (ICR) system and procedures. The Team helps ensure ICR framework consistency, transparency, repeatability and adherence to internal Credit Risk Policies, Procedures, and Standards and global and regional regulatory requirements. In addition, the Team provides analytical support of ICR methodologies to Credit Risk leadership through on-going monitoring and controls. We work closely with Credit Risk subject matter experts for development and/or enhancement of industry specific ICR methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and report on aspects of Credit Risk’s ICR framework via the development of templates, standards, guidelines, and key performance indicators to senior management and governance committees.
  • Oversee the maintenance and challenge of existing industry-specific ICR methodologies, ensuring accuracy and consistency where relevant. Provide strategic input in the development of ICR methodology changes, collaborating with industry subject matter experts.
  • Develop and oversee cross-industry ICR methodologies & review frameworks, including related system enhancements and training
  • Own RCSA program deliverables related to ICRs including action plans, control monitoring, and control evaluation.
  • Coordinate the review of new and evolving global regulatory requirements applicable to Internal Risk Ratings frameworks to ensure compliance.
  • Lead and participate in global regulatory engagement on Credit Risk’s ICR system and procedures.

Skills & Qualifications 

  • Minimum of 6 years experience in credit risk management or underwriting. Familiarity with policy implementation and change management is preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial services governance, including the audit and regulatory landscape.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, particularly with members of senior management. Ability to articulate complex problems and solutions through concise and clear messaging.
  • Ability to perform independently, organized, and flexible.
  • Highly motivated, strong attention to detail, team oriented.
  • Proficient to advanced skills with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Programming experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau is a plus.
  • Ability to navigate large data sets, develop metrics and perform analysis is a plus.
