What you’ll be doing...

Verizon is seeking a candidate with partner ecosystem and customer trial experience to be a member of our API Innovation Partner Engagement team.

As part of the Technology Strategy and Innovation organization, this individual will help drive adoption of Verizon’s next generation network APIs. They will own a set of domain specific projects through the New Product Innovation (NPI) process which develops pre-commercial network APIs offerings by translating customer demand into product features and live trials.

You will manage your own pipeline of customer engagements with an overall goal of a completed Proof of Value (PoV) and subsequent commercial use of a newly created API product.

PoV execution includes: customer or partner sourcing and onboarding, use case discovery and documentation, business requirements capture, deal development and negotiation, project tracking and delivery, capture of commercial results and business unit transitioning. These efforts entail a relentless focus on rapid project prioritization, structuring, scoping, and stakeholder alignment in an emerging and potentially ambiguous space.

Ultimately, long term profitable growth is your goal and success in this role will be tracked by PoV delivery and your impact on metrics like long term new revenue via API products.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Owning and being accountable for a key strategic domain and an associated funnel of partners across that industry through our rapid proof of value approach.

  • Aligning with business unit stakeholders and prioritizing opportunities against our API Innovation strategy. Using customer insights to refine and improve our approach in your domain.

  • Being an expert in our customer’s needs and business to best map them to our API functions.

  • Creating a domain specific plan to address your area of API partner opportunity, communicating recommendations to senior management, and working with our business unit and corporate stakeholders to align on the approach rooted in the voice of the customer.

  • Partnering with our API Technology Solutioning team to understand our network capabilities, share scalable requirements and quantify your PoV partners and market potential across customers in your domain prioritize technical product development.

  • Understanding the technical hurdles and map key business outcomes of the project to anticipate issues while driving results.

  • Developing and managing your partner pipeline and PoV project plans, schedules, and deliverables. Working with the external customer, technology development teams, and Verizon business unit to determine project approach and milestones.

  • Managing project budgets, onboarding and managing vendors, identifying possible risks and opportunities and making corresponding recommendations to ensure timelines and obligations are met.

  • Packaging and delivering necessary data, findings, documentation, and commercial results to business unit product owners for long term productization.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Proven experience quantifying customer opportunities in emerging areas to justify technical investment with revenue potential.

  • Experience building and managing customer/ partnership pipelines towards trial deal closure with pre-commercial products.

  • Experience delivering rapid technical validation of new products to validate commercial metrics through a detail obsessed execution approach.

  • Advanced degree with an MBA is ideal to balance commercial thinking with new technology development.

  • Knowledge of new API products in areas like data, network infrastructure enablement, on-demand optimization, delivered through APIs or microservices

  • You can thrive in an environment with little direction, create a vision and formulate the plan and the resources to execute it.

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.
